Biomass stretches its legs!

On the 11th of March, Biomass has finally emerged inside the Payload Preparation Facility. Carefully rolled out of its container, the satellite was reunited with the team, marking another key milestone in the launch campaign.

Airbus AIT Manager Torsten Wehr shared his excitement: “Today, we were thrilled to see Biomass again. The rollout from its container went flawlessly, and I’m pleased to report that the satellite is in great shape”.

This week’s activities will focus on validating the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and charging the flight batteries—all in preparation for the first power-on of the satellite on Friday. Some EGSE allows us to communicate with Biomass via telecommands, while other systems are used to check the satellite’s instrument.

Exciting times ahead as we get ready for Biomass’s first switch-on!

Inside the transport container, Biomass is fitted onto a Multi Purpose Trolly (MPT). After door opening, the satellite is pulled out of the container.

A better view of the MPT, whose function is to support the satellite preparation activities in the cleanroom, with different possible orientations.

… And of course a team picture of the Airbus team
